The Development Research Group (DRG) was constituted in 1991 under the Department of Economic and Policy Research (DEPR) to undertake quick, policy-oriented research on current issues.

The Bank provides financial support for the following research activities:

1. RBI Professional Chairs and Corpus Fund
2. Financial support for Publication of Research Journals
3. Financial support for Conferences/Seminars/Workshops
4. Scholarship Scheme for Faculty Members
5. Programme Funding Scheme
